ISHS is a group of senior tenants of at Wiigwamen Terrace who are concerned with the wellbeing of fellow tenants. They do this through two approaches: First is to hold the corporations, agencies, organizations and institutions charged with their care to account when they are not meeting their commitments. The second is to offer real life connections through in-person engagement activities, centred around sharing food whenever possible. These activities include a weekly Breakfast Club, a Caring and Sharing Food Pantry, an Emergency Needs Fund, and a weekly BINGO Fundraiser.
Indigenous Seniors Helping Seniors (ISHS) is 100% volunteer run, with the help of community organizations like Dashmaawaan Bemaadzinjin (They Feed the People) and FoodShare Toronto. The Depanneur is proud to be able to support this important local initiative, using food to connect, comfort and heal.
