DESCRIPTION:Mondays Oct. 5\, 19\, 26\, Nov. 2 | Ages 7-12 \nNutritionist Sarah Goldstein will focus on basic nutrition in building kids cooking skills in a safe way. Kids will not only leave with a snack and an understanding of well-rounded meals\, but also some take-home recipes to teach the family. \nOct. 5 DIY Pizza Party\nWe will make a healthy crust while discussing whole grains vs. refined grains; make a tomato sauce and kale walnut pesto; and use a variety of both classic and unique seasonal pizza toppings \nOct.19 Cookies + Mylk\nWe will make oatmeal cookies and chocolate almond milk and discuss using natural sweeteners like honey\, maple syrup and dates \nOct. 26 Vegetable Fun\nLearning how to prepare vegetables in unique ways\, including\, playing with the spirulizer\, making strawberry spinach smoothies and breading zucchini. The group will discuss fun ways to eat a “rainbow” of vegetables and fruit \nNov. 2 “Chips” + Dip\nA healthy version of chips and dip\, we will make vegetable chips\, pita chips and a creamy hemp “ranch” dip and go over the basics of healthy snacks \nThe recipes in these classes are mostly vegan and mostly gluten-free. Most all dietary preferences are welcome and can be accommodated. Organic and local foods will be used when and where possible.
